Education will play an even greater role in finding and retaining talents and experienced employees in the future. In line with its interdisciplinary concept, University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) relies on collaboration with renowned corporations and institutions. In this way, our students profit from cooperating partners who, for instance, are specialized in spatial communication solutions, media presentations in spaces, or 3D applications.
A practical approach based on working together on projects: This is one of the core principles of University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE). The cooperative arrangements in place with our partners create synergies for both parties – students and firms.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation
3D Innovation Center
The 3D Innovation Center at Frauernhofer Heinrich-Hertz Institute in Berlin offers a common, precompetitive platform to all players who do research and work in 3D production, 3D contents and 3D distribution. The aim is to exchange views, socialize, test products together and present them to different target groups. This way new synergies are created in product development, in marketing and sales as well as in positioning of new 3D ideas.

3D lab at TU Berlin
The 3D lab at the Technical University Berlin is the ideal place for BTK students who have heard or read of rapid prototyping, 3D digitalization and similar, but who have never seen or used the machines for these before. It is also ideal if you who would like to speed up processes in product development, or research new ways to do so. TU Berlin’s 3D lab develops new types of visualization of three-dimensional content or objects for product development and presentation. BTK’s students can also receive support in generating a three-dimensional dataset for a real object, among others.

BIU.Net
Since February 2016 BTK with its study programme Game Design has been member of BIU.Dev & BIU.Net, the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software based in Berlin. With BIU.Net, BIU offers a network platform with the aim of better networking all members of the German computer and video game sector and supporting the interchange of all players. We are glad to be part of it and to shape the future of the gaming location Germany.

Center for Computer Games Research
Computer games are the new mass media of our present day. The scientific studies of this medium, however, are still in their early stages, especially in Germany. Founded in 2008, the research center at the University of Potsdam is laying the foundation for research in this field. DIGAREC is a pool of interdisciplinary researchers, who bring together the knowledge and resources of its members in order to use these productively. With subjects in Media Science, Pedagogy, Psychology, Design, Media Rights, Computer Science, and Culture History, unique synergies are made possible and can optimally unfold at the center.

dpa-infografik award
Since 2012, BTK has been a collaborating partner of dpa-inforgrafik for the annual dpa-infografik award. This award honors graphical artists whose work stands out in design and content; is vivid, easy to understand, and aesthetically appealing. Professor Thomas Noller is a member of the jury, and the awards ceremony has taken place at BTK’s campus in Berlin since 2013.

Fab Lab Berlin
Fab Lab Berlin is an open digital fabrication studio where you can learn how to use 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, design software, and electronics to make nearly anything you want, such as models and prototypes. We are part of the international Fab Lab network and offer access to a professional DIY studio. We offer BTK the chance to use our infrastructure for individual study projects and joint beginners and advanced prototyping workshops. We also offer a 15% saving on our workshops and machine usage (e.g. laser cutting or 3D printing) to all BTK students.

Fraunhofer IPK
Virtual reality is an important tool for product development and presentation today. That’s why, in 2001, the Lab for Virtual Reality was launched. At this center for excellence, innovative basic technologies – such as projection-based 3D visualizations, 3D interaction technology, haptic interactive solutions, or applications in the traditional fields of CAD and CAS – are developed further. What’s more, new virtual reality applications in the areas of fly- and walk-through for technology and architecture, assembly and disassembly, coaching platforms, prototype development, as well as telepresent machine control are generated.

KREUZBÄR
KREUZBÄR combines a refreshing drink of the 20th century with todays elixir of life: Fassbrause with caffeine. That’s how they bring back a typical Berlin speciality, brewed according to the original recipe from 1908. The result is a down-to-earth and not too sweet alternative to the fancy drinks on the market.

Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin
Established in 1982, the German Technology Museum continues Berlin’s long tradition of collecting numerous historical technology exhibits, which have called the city home for over 120 years and have found a new home here. At BTK, for the permanent exhibition “Pills and Pipettes”, students generated a 3D animation. Nine students, under the direction of Achim Bahr, continually worked on this project over the course of three semesters; the five-minute animation is shown at the central area of the exhibition on an autostereoscopic 3D display, which does not require 3D glasses. Likewise, an interactive exhibit piece was created by Digital & Interaction Design students at BTK; it enables visitors to create their own colorful display of fireworks.
