Professor Smith has been with BKT and UE since 2012 and is Vice Dean for the Art & Design faculty and Program Director for Media Spaces (Media Art, Design & Environment). Professor Smith's areas of expertise are Exhibition Design, Spatial Design, Way-finding, Material Culture, Design Curation, Experimental Design, Visual Anthropology, and Museology. Additional expertise includes Ethics, Social Justice, Decolonization, and Ethnographic Research Method.
