Since Saturday, July 22, 2023, the Mexican student María Fernanda Sánchez Castañeda, studying at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), had been missing. Now, the student has been found dead.
Prof. Dr. Sascha Bosetzky, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE), commented on this case:
“With great sadness and deep concern, we have learned that our esteemed student, María Fernanda Sánchez Castañeda, has been found dead. Since Saturday, July 22, 2023, María Fernanda had been missing. Her family, friends, and the entire University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) mourn her. We are deeply shaken by this sad certainty and are in close contact with María Fernanda’s family and her fellow students during this difficult time. María Fernanda was a dedicated and popular student at our university. Her loss leaves a gap in our educational community that is hard to fill. In these moments of mourning and pain, we want to express our sincere condolences and compassion to her loved ones.
We want to thank everyone who was involved in any way in the search and support of María Fernanda. Your dedication and compassion demonstrate the strength of our community and the unity we show in difficult times.
The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) offers its students and fellow students psychological support to assist them in their grief and to support them during this difficult time. María Fernanda will be remembered as a loving and dedicated student. In her memory, we will stand together as a university.”
