UE Dubai Establishes Honorary Senate

The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) Dubai held the inaugural meeting of its newly established UE Dubai-Honorary Senate at its campus. Under the leadership of Professor Maurits van Rooijen, President of UE and Chief Academic Officer of Global University Systems (GUS), the senate comprises a distinguished group of members from various industries.

The UE Dubai-Honorary Senate includes:

  • Dr. Samer Lezzaiq, Vice President and Head of Bayer Health Unit, known for his extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry and commitment to improving access to medicine in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Tobias Maier, CEO of Saloodo! Middle East & Africa and CFO Middle East & Africa of DHL Global Forwarding, who leverages his vast experience in finance to lead digital transformation and expansion in logistics.
  • Oliver Oehms, CEO of the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK), bringing extensive experience in international trade and regional economic development.
  • Faik Serkan Ergun, CFO of Bosch Middle East, recognized for his significant contributions to financial and strategic management in the consumer goods and energy sectors.
  • Dr. Hamid Haqparwar, CEO of AGMC overseeing BMW Group brands and Director of Albatha Automotive Group, known for his leadership in the automotive industry and commitment to innovation.
  • Jan Kees de Jager, former Finance Minister of the Netherlands, an entrepreneur and digital innovator with extensive experience in finance and tech leadership.
  • Dahlia Mihyar, Global Head of National Security Accreditation at SAP, specializing in global cybersecurity and national security solutions for Fortune 500 companies.

The primary goal of the UE Dubai-Honorary Senate is to foster close collaboration and strengthen ties with the business community in the UAE, providing students with invaluable industry insights and opportunities.Professor Maurits van Rooijen stated: “As a university of applied sciences, maintaining a close relationship with the industry is essential for us.
